Burns Lake, B.C. – A crash between two transport trucks east of Burns Lake has left one person dead and another in hospital.

Burns Lake RCMP and emergency crews were called out shortly after midnight Monday to a report of a collision 32 km east of the village near the Sheridan overpass. Investigators say it appears that a west bound tractor trailer unit hauling produce collided with an east bound semi hauling logs. Both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.

The driver of the produce truck, a 55 year old Kelowna man was treated at hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The female driver of the logging truck is being treated for non life-threatening injuries in hospital. The woman’s hometown and names are not being released for now.

RCMP say Highway 16 is expected to remain closed for several hours while the investigation and clean up of the scene continues. North District RCMP Traffic Services Collision Analysts are at the scene assisting the probe.
