Prince George, B.C.- The founder of the Communities that Care program, which is aimed at preventing young teens from heading down the path to gang membership, is coming to Prince George.
On March 31, Dr. Richard Catalano will be heading up a public session at the Civic Centre.
Dr. Catalano will present a range of information including data about the risk factors that predispose youth to gang involvement and how those risks can be mitigated. “Research shows that a coalition of community stakeholders armed with tools solidly grounded in prevention science can prevent young adolescents from starting to engage in delinquent behaviour and what’s really remarkable is that the effects are community-wide”, says Dr. Catalano.
The public session is set for March 31st at the Civic Centre in room 2008. Although the session is free, anyone interested in attending is asked to pre-register with Sarah Brown before March 25th at sbrown@city.pg.bc.ca or by calling 250-614-7897
