The majestic Mount Robson where hikers make their way to Berg Lake

Prince George, B.C. -  The snow might make it difficult for many to think about camping, but if you'd like to experience two of Northern B.C.'s most popular destinations, you need to start thinking about booking your reservations now.

The BC Parks online reservation system (www.discovercamping.ca) opened this past week and began accepting bookings for both the Berg Lake trail in Mount Robson Provincial Park and the Bowron Lakes canoe circuit.

March 1st actually marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first provincial park in B.C. - Strathcona on Vancouver Island.  BC Parks will spend the year marking its centennial.

Events in our region begin in June, with 'Arts in the Park' featuring the Prince George Symphony Orchestra performing at West Lake Provincial Park.  A guided hike is also planned at the Wilson Creek Ecological Reserve near Terrace.  The day hike will feature the reserve's warden, a naturalist and a BC Parks ranger discussing all aspects of the unique terraced bog.
