Prince George, B.C. -  Mackenzie residents and their supporters across the country, and around the globe, are developing serious cases of carpal tunnel syndrome!

The deadline to cast ballots in the bid to have the community crowned 2011's Kraft Hockeyville is at 9pm tonight.  Mackenzie was announced as one of the five finalists on Saturday night (click here, for previous story) and, since then, supporters have been developing their repetitive stress injuries.

Sue DesRoches says she's exhausted and sheer muscle memory is kicking in.  "This experience has been so over-the-top," says DesRoches.  "It brings tears to all our eyes, especially after all the community has been through."

After submitting a bid online at the Kraft Hockeyville website for Mackenzie's Alan Sheppard Arena, a text message says 'success', but supporters are not taking that at face value - they are taking the 'unlimited voting' to the limits...

The "Mackenzie BC is Hockeyville" Facebook page is now at 10,144 members.  Pam Boire Kershaw says she cast an average of 120 votes per hour, over a 14-hour day yesterday.

Those unable to vote online, can also tally their support by phoning toll-free 1-866-533-8066.  The winner will not be crowned until Hockey Night in Canada on April 2nd.  Sue DesRoches says residents will have plenty to keep them busy until then, and they'll be wearing their toques and jerseys in proclaiming 'Mackenzie is Hockeyville' while the countdown is on.
