Prince George, B.C. - Today marks the start of the Daffodil pin campaign by the Canadian Cancer Society.
The City of Prince George has proclaimed April as Daffodil Month, and April 27th as Daffodill Day, a day to wear a daffodil pin.“We want people who have been affected by cancer to know that they are not alone,” says Nancy Shelford CCS spokesperson.
The Daffodil campaign was piloted in BC last year and this year it is being launched nationally. Last year more than 400,000 British Columbians wore the daffodil pin. This year the Society hopes to triple that number in B.C.
Donations for every pin go toward support services including programs for individuals seeking cancer information, emotional support and camps for youth and families.
Daffodil pins can be found at many locations, including: BC Liquor Stores, Chevron Town Pantry, Canadian Tire, Coast Inn of the North, CNC, Northern Hardware, RCMP, UNBC Bookstore and YMCA. For a full listing, visit www.fightback.ca
