Red triangle shows crash site

Prince George, B.C.- Highway 16 east,  about 3 kilometres east of Slim Creek, is closed indefinitely  as  officials try to deal with a propane tanker truck crash.

Police say it is too early to say  why the tanker truck crashed as the  second of the two  tank units  erupted in flames  within moments of the crash.  The lead tank is  now  burning  off.

Officials  say the  lead tank will be  allowed to burn off to ensure the area  is safe before any investigators  will be allowed  access.

The driver of the truck  escaped with minor injuries.

There are concerns the highway will be closed for  at least  a couple of days.

Drive B.C. will issue an update on the  status of the highway around 2 this afternoon.
