Oh, great, another dutchman.
This is what is called "an exercise in futility". Good luck. Loser. Get Svend back here.
His name is certainly of Dutch origin, but whether he is a Dutcman is not said. Perhaps he was born in Canada and is a Canadian.

Taking part in the democratic process does not make one a loser. It makes one a winner. Whether elected by the voters or not, democracy can't function without people like the Jon Van Barneveld and Heidi Redl being willing to put their names forward. It is not an exercise in futility unless democracy itself is futile. They should be praised for running, not insulted by those who don't have the guts to run themselves.
Born here or not, he is a Canadian. Otherwise he could not vote or run for office.
I wonder what national origin the name "Aitch Dee" is? ;-)
There was a time, not too long ago that stating you were a Canadian in Canada, even if you were born here was not acceptable. Especially in schools, and I beleive in the Census. You had to declare the nationality of your Mother country.

So if your parents were from England and you were born in Canada you were all English. Eventually being a Canadian became acceptable, probably after Britian backed away from the British Commonwealth concept.

Have a nice day.

Aitch = Harris
Dee = Dick
