Prince George, B.C. -  Members of the B.C. New Democratic Party can begin casting their ballots at 9am this morning for the party's new leader.

Advance polling to Sunday's election begins this morning and runs through until 7pm on Saturday evening.

A voter information package has been mailed to each eligible party member containing a voter Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is required to cast a vote either in advance or on election day.  (The party is advising anyone who has not yet received their package to call toll-free 1-888-868-3637.)

Advance votes are cast on a preferential ballot, where voters can rank as many or as few candidates by order of preference.  When the votes are tabulated on election day, the first choice counts as the member's vote.  The second choice on an advance preferential ballot will be counted only when the first choice has dropped off the ballot and so on.

There are four candidates remaining in the race to replace former leader, Carole James, who stepped down in early December:  Adrian Dix, Mike Farnworth, John Horgan and Dana Larsen.  Nicholas Simons dropped withdrew his name last week.

Sunday's Leadership Assembly will be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, but will be broadcast live at www.bcndp.ca starting at 2:30pm.

I know nobody really cares who the leader of the BC NDP is.However,I was waiting to for this voting day to come,so I could ask why Global isn't covering this as they did with the BC Liberals? If they are not going to cover the vote,it truly shows the voters of BC where there allegiances lie and that they don't provide unbiased coverage, when it comes to news.
