Vancouver, B.C.- Premier Christy Clark has announced there will be a by-election in the provincial riding of Vancouver- Point Grey,  on May 11th, and she is in the running.

Clark has been anxious to start her work in the legislature since being named the leader of the Liberal Party in B.C.. The riding was held by former Premier Gordon Campbell, and he stepped down from the position of MLA for the riding March 15th in order to clear the way for Clark to have a shot at gaining a seat in the legislature.

She says  she waited a month  to call the by-election because she wanted to make sure  her plan to put families first was  well on its way.

She pointed out that in the  month since she  has taken over the post  as Premier,  she beleives  the Liberals are well on the way to changing the way the government deals with the people of British Columbia.  She noted the  boost to the  minimum wage, more funding  from gaming grants and the review of B.C. Hydro's plans as just a few of  the moves they have made.

Here's a funny thought.....what if she loses?
I don't think there's much chance of her losing. What's the alternative? There is none.
I don't think this will be a walk in the park for Christy. There was strong support for recall in Gordon Campbell's riding. Many of the workers on previous campaigns are "unavailable".
If she loses? It would be painful, but she would still be the premier of the province just as she is now.
There is a new NDP guy there challenging her. heard on CBC that he was the head of BC Civil liberties and has now offered himself as a contender against crusty. So there is a alternative. And A good one at that. At least this man helped people out before. The people in that riding will not soon forget HST and all the other sickening things this candidate has been responsible for. The BC Rail ripoff, the list just goes on and on and on. This was our education minister before. Do you remember how good she gutted our classrooms? I hope NO ONE votes for her. We need to show the party we the people are FED UP with the lie berals. This example here is nothing but gordo in a dress and to the people of Point Grey. DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS.
In the last election Gordon Campbell got 11,546 votes. The NDP 9232 votes and the Green 2012. So you can see that this is not a walk in the park.

In fact it is about time people started to realize that the Liberals are not in a good position to win the next election. That is because the HST basically emasculated Campbell and Hansen, and it is still hanging around their necks.

It is not by accident that things are unfolding the way they are, on the HST

1. Referendum ballots to be distributed by mail in mid-June, with a deadline for returning them of July 22nd. So the vote takes place during the holiday break in July. Hmmmmm. In addition by July we will have been paying this bloody tax for one year, and it has already bled us for $1.9 Billion. **Anyone ever think of that**

2. The referendum question is somewhat misleading in that it requires a **YES** vote to extinguish the HST. It reads **Are you in favour of extinguishing the HST (harmonized sales tax) and reinstating the PST (provincial sales tax) in conjunction with the GST (goods and service tax) Hmmmmmmm.

3. The results of the HST referendum will not be announced until August, under a new timetable for the mail-in vote laid out Friday April 8th. Hmmmmmm. Is it possible they will have an election before the results of the HST are announced. Hmmmm

4. The Liberals and the big business lobby that benefits from the transfer of $2 billion a year onto the backs of BC consumers will strongly support this tax, and do everthing possible to convince you to sign on and Vote No. Dont be mis-led.

Christy Clark needs to be defeated or at least to win by a very narrow margin to get her attention, and get her and her **Yes men and women** to realize that the game is over. Its time to support all people in BC and not just their Corporate buddies.

The popular vote in BC in the last election was almost equal between the NDP and the Liberal. So it seem that there is a clear split between the two groups in BC

I don't think the timing for the vote on the HST is any accident,Palopu!
Nor is the fact that people will actually have to check "YES" to vote against the HST.
The Liberals are self-serving and nasty, but they are not stupid when it comes to manipulating this to their advantage!
They are actually very good at it.
I am sure a lot of thought and logistic calculating went into deciding on the date.
I wonder how many people will miss that on the ballot and check off "NO"?
And while it is unlikely,it is entirely possible for Clark to lose the by-election in Vancouver/Point Grey.
Now that would be a hoot!
For those who can not figure out the meaning or intent of the question "Are you in favour of extinguishing the HST?" Yes or No? it wouldn't make any difference if the question would be "Are you against retaining the HST?" Yes or No!

They wouldn't be able to figure that one out either and perhaps they should just stay home and have a beer.

The questin should be.

**Should the Government get rid of the HST and re-instate the tax system that was in place in July 2010. Yes or No.

Simple enough, but not good for the Government.
