Prince George, B.C. - It is what is often referred to as the 'ugly' season - the time when the dirt-covered snow, and the litter trapped in its nooks and crannies, cover up the green grass waiting to break-free.
At a news conference beside PGSS, Acting Mayor Debora Munoz, members of council and community partners officially kicked off the city's annual spring clean-up campaign - 'Clean To The Core'.
Local groups and organizations are being encouraged to get out there and getting picking up garbage this Sunday, between 10am and 4pm, from neighbourhood parks, school yards, boulevards, and along trails and streets.
Garbage bins will be located at several spots around the city for the litter collection:
- 5th and Killoren
- Ospika Boulevard - Andres Road
- 3rd Avenue and Watrous Street
- 2nd Avenue and George Street
- College Heights Secondary School
- Parkridge Heights (Bunce Road and Park Drive)
- Hudson's Bay Slough
- Hart Shopping Centre
"This event helps showcase the great pride that our community has for our city," says the Acting Mayor. "We encourage everyone to pitch in and assist to make Prince George clean to the core."
Anyone wanting to get involved can register their group at www.pitch-in.ca
Bags, vests, gloves, and all other materials will be provided to the volunteers.
