Prince George, B.C. – Today is the day the Provincial New Democrats will select a new leader for their party.  There are four candidates in the running for the post, Mike Farnworth, John Horgan, Adrian Dix and Dana Larsen.

The leadership vote is taking place in the Vancouver Convention Centre and will start at 3:00  with  an introduction and welcome, followed by a tribute to former leader Carole James.  James stepped down last fall when she was unable to  stop public  bickering within the caucus.

At 3:30, the candidates will make their speeches.  The first ballot begins at 4:00 and the first round results will be known at 4:45.

If there  is a need for a second ballot,  it will start at 5:00 and the results will be  announced  at 5:45.

Convention planners expect to officially  announce the winner at 6:10 and have the winner make an acceptance speech at 6:15.

Farnworth is the best choice,IMO.
He is smart,popular, and honest.
He is well thought of,even by many who would never support the NDP.
Anyone else, and the NDP is toast...again.
If Farnworth gets it,the Liberals and CC are in BIG trouble!
I suspect they already know that!
I guess it will depend on what the little voices in the heads of the party members is whispering to them.
NDP logic isn't always rational!
Let the dance begin!
I knew it, they have the little voices in their head syndrome.

Either way, it pretty much is a "YAWN" voting session to most British Columbians. I noticed it is not getting much coverage..... oh Shaw Cable is down, AGAIN
I look at it a little bit differently Andyfreeze. I think Mr. Farnworth is the least worst of the available options.

There is no doubt that we in B.C. are suffering from a case of political overload with all the activity that is going on in federal and provincial politics at the present time.

Unfortunately none of the candidates both federally and provincially (that I have heard of anyway) are discussing the "big issues", which I think are:

The massive total (government, business, and household) debt levels in this country which are spiraling upwards even higher at a very dramatic rate as we speak.

The demographic time bomb (the graying of Canada) which is coming at us.) The leading edge of our huge baby boom generation turns 65 this year.

The aging infrastructure in this country

While most Canadians do not have a workplace pension plan, some of of stuff I have been reading tells me a lot of the pension plans of those who are lucky to have one ( both private and public) are carrying very significant unfunded liabilities.
I knew it, they have the little voices in their head syndrome.

What on earth is that supposed to mean?

The NDP is supported by the working class in our society. If you like to snivel and suck up to the elites and and accept their agenda go for it. They have shoved all those that are working for minnium wage into a corner and deprive them of a decent living.

Those of us who have learned about tolerance of our fellow workers have managed to have a livable pension. All this talk of the greying and baby boomers is so much horse stuff. It is intended to cower and frighten those who do not have a union to talk to and protect them.

So go pedal your scare tack ticks else where. Our governments have the money to protect and enhance the lives of the poor. If they have 30 billion for aircraft that’s not needed why not help those that do.

Crime in our midst is rampant and bigger jails and more policemen is not the solution. It’s a vibrant society and access to an education will solve our crime dilemma.
