It's no longer the Spruce Kings Show Home...it belongs to a Prince George couple
Prince George, B.C.- More than 50 people turned out to 2620 Links Drive in the Aberdeen Glen subdivision this evening, many hoping they might be on-hand as their winning ticket was drawn in the Prince George Spruce Kings' 29th Annual Show Home Lottery...
With a local auditor and a member from the B.C. Gaming Enforcement branch standing by, Spruce Kings Marketing Manager, Jim Young, went carefully through the procedure of spinning the tickets around one last time. He had to wear short sleeves and raise his hands in the air before unlocking the raffle box and reaching inside, he grouped the tickets in the centre for Damian Dorschner to draw from. Dorschner, too, had to wear short sleeves and back up to the box before selecting the winning ticket...
Jennifer and Bruce MacKinnon of Prince George are the lucky new owners of the home, valued at almost $393-thousand dollars. They were not among the hopefuls gathered in what is now the McKinnon's new garage.
Spruce Kings Board Member, Darcy Buryn, says, "It was a very successful lottery, we sold more tickets this year (8370), than we have in the past, with the extended draw date, so the City of Prince George and the whole community of northern B.C. has come together and supported the Spruce Kings very well again one more year - we're very pleased."
Buryn says the net proceeds from the lottery go to supplement team gate revenues and marketing revenues to help them run the franchise in the B.C. Hockey League.
The team is already looking ahead to next year's 30th annual lottery.
