Prince George, B.C. - The first-ever Northern Crime Prevention Symposium is being hosted in Prince George later today...

Normally, the B.C. Crime Prevention Association hosts an annual general meeting in the Lower Mainland, but, in a bid to improve accessibility, is holding regional conferences this year.

The BCCPA has partnered with Prince George Community Policing and the Prince George Community Assessment & Action Network to put on the one-day symposium.

Community Policing Coordinator, Dianne Sears, says, "The focus for this event is crime prevention ad the workships will appeal to everyone, including youth."

Sears says there will be workshops on anti-graffiti programs, frauds and scams, and critical incident stress management - to name a few.  In addition, the keynote speaker, Keith Pattinson, will give an address on 'how we can give our children what they need to succeed in life'.  Pattinson is billed as one of the country's most passionate presenters.

The symposium is on at the Ramada.
