Air Quality Advisory Lifted

The Mininstry of the Environment  has cancelled the air quality advisory issued yesterday.  Particulate levels have decreased in much of the Prince George area.

Yesterday, the levels exceeded the target reading of "50"  at two of three sites with PM10 readings of  56 Downtown, 43 at College Heights and 56 at the BCR.

The morning those readings have  dropped to 33 downtown and 16 at College Heights but increased to 61 at the BCR site.

The particulate matter  that is boosting the ratings is mainly road dust and, according to the Ministry, "Combustion sources east and northeast of downtown."

The cancellation of the air quality advisory means  wood burning fireplaces and wood stoves may be used again.

Gee, that makes me feel all better... living in the worst quality air shed west of Ontario!

On the plus side, it saves me a fortune in cigarettes… it would just be redundant.
Let's see, a ministry rep goes out, wets his finger, sticks up in the air, goes back into the office and pulls out standard media release 23-0F and sends it off. ...

Mission accomplished one more time ....

the process has been going on for 10 + years, and will continue to go on until they run out of paper to publish the media releases ....

then they will switch to electronic, automated systems and the guy will be given the pink slip .....

in the meantime, squat gets done ........
PS ...

those who know who I am, and there are a few that know that and are in a position to do something about it, it is time to get off your behinds and show you really care about this community .....
"The particulate matter that is boosting the ratings is mainly road dust..."

Does anyone truly believe our real air quality issues are related to road dust? That's the red herring we seem to always get thrown into the mix when things get uncomfortable for our politicians.

I doubt road dust is deemed to be a root cause of our little cancer cluster in PG.
