It was three years ago today that  25 year old Nicole Hoar, a tree planter from Red Deer, disappeared.  She was last seen on the edge of the city of Prince George hitch-hiking to Smithers.

Despite a massive search effort, a $50,000 dollar reward, and the efforts of over twenty highly trained police officers who came to the city from the lower mainland in and effort to break the case not one single solid clue has been produced.

RCMP spokesman Mike Caira says the big team of investigators looked at this case very closely, "We had over 100 people involved in the original search, an RCMP helicopter, fixed wing planes, and RCMP dogs and still failed to turn a single major clue."

Is Nicole part of the Highway 16 missing persons file?  SInce 1990, six women in all, have gone missing along that stretch of roadway.  In addition, a whole family of four (the Jack family) including the mother, father and two children simply vanished off the face of the earth with never any clue found.

Was the disappearance of Nicole Hoar the work of a HIghway 16 serial killer?
Caira says "We have had 1400 tips, none have panned out, this could have been the work of a lone player in which case there is a possibility that we may never know what happened to Nicole."  He adds "Serial killers don’t talk" and the secret may be taken to the grave in spite of the fact that there is big money on the table for a tip.

Caira says "You must remember the Hoar family has put thousands of hours into trying to find out what really happened to Nicole without success, and all we are hoping that maybe someday, someone, will find one piece of evidence in the bush that will turn this thing around."
