The Province has added $426,662.00 to the base funding of Northern Health to be used in programs to battle crystal meth.
The funding is Northern Health's share of $8 million dollars the Province is adding to the arsenal to fight the use of the crystal meth, and help youth deal with addictions.
The money can be used for crystal meth treatment options and youth addictions services, including increasing bed capacity for youth with addictions and building treatment programs and supports for crystal meth users.
The new funding builds on existing youth addictions services and the $7-million crystal meth strategy
“Successful prevention and treatment programs start at the community level,” said John Les, Solicitor General and minister responsible for B.C.’s crystal meth strategy. “This funding will work in conjunction with our other anti-meth initiatives to help communities respond directly to the threat of meth and develop local resources and solutions.”
Here is how the funding will be distributed:
-Vancouver Coastal Health $2,183,915.
-Fraser Health receives $1,964,558.
-The Vancouver Island Health Authority $1,539,324.
-Interior Health $1,261,421.
-The Provincial Health Services Authority $624,120.
-Northern Health $426,662
