It has been just under a year since the Quesnel Wood Enterprise Centre received $1 million dollars in federal-provincial funding through the Western Economic Partnership Agreement, to help expand and relocate to its new Industrial Park location.
Today, reps from both levels of government Provincial Economic Development Minister Colin Hansen along with Cariboo-Prince George MP Dick Harris were on hand for today's grand opening of the relocated expanded business.
“The expansion provides additional space to continue providing a set of services that aren’t available anywhere else in the region,” said Hansen.
The Centre can provide furniture-grade kiln-drying to technical support and market access resources for value-added companies commercializing their products.
MP Dick Harris had praise for the City of Quesnel calling it "One of Canada’s most diversified wood products manufacturing centres" that "exemplifies innovative action to build economically viable communities.”
To date, more than 60 community organizations provincewide have shared in funding under the Western Economic Partnership Agreement.
