It has been several months  since the Crossroads Report on  Motor Vehicle Crashes  was presented to Northern Health. (see previous story)

The health authority had set aside $60 thousand dollars to fund projects aimed at reducing vehicle crashes on Northern B.C. roads.  The call for projects has been answered.

Truck Safe spokesperson Mary Anne Arcand says  while she is not able to give too many details until the information is officially released,  she can say  there are  some "very cool projects" in the works.  According to Arcand, the projects cover a wide spectrum from  financial support of a roll-over simulator to a special signage campaign  to help reduce jaywalking.

Arcand says there are 12 projects that will receive a share of the $60  grand.  There were some  project ideas that were out of the realm of the Truck Safe program says Arcand, but the good news is, those ideas have been passed over to ICBC, the Ministry of Highways and the RCMP and  some may be adopted by  one or more of those  groups.

Well, we are a winter city, so having "cool" projects would seem to be appropriate.

That being said, I would prefer to have some effective programs.

So, hopefully these are more than cool, nifty, neat, jazzy, groovy, dandy, corking, smashing, cracking, bang-up, peachy, swell .... for $60,000 I expect a bit more.
