This is what the site looked like when company reps first appeared before Council a month ago, asking for a temporary re-zoning permit.
Council has approved granting a one time extension for a re-zone permit on a log sorting yard.
Three days after being granted a temporary re-zone to allow the operation of a log sorting yard, Real Time Fibre Supply filed another application to have the initial time frame extended. Real Time was operating a log sorting yard on Highway 16 east, across from the Ritchie Bros Auction site. They had told Council last month they could have the site cleared by March 17th. At the time, Council advised Real Time to either ask for a longer period, or, to apply on the spot for a one time extension. The company filed the extension application three days later, asking for the deadline to be moved to April 15th.
Although progress has been made, the photo at right ( taken March 17th) indicates there is still a significant amount of work to be done.
Councilor Sherry Sethen noted that last time, the operators expressed confidence they wouldbe able to meet the March deadline, but said if the operators are confident this one time extension gives them enough time, then she wouldn't press to have the extension "extended".
