With the provincial government's midnight deadline for one billion dollars in signing bonuses drawing near, four tentative deals have been inked, so far, this evening...

The package affecting the largest number of public sector workers is a four-year agreement for employees in the community social services sector.  Almost 13,000 employees will vote on the agreement over the next three to four weeks.

This is the 36th agreement reached this month.  "It supports all of our negotiating framework goals:  to work within the financial envelope," says B.C. Finance Minister Carole Taylor, "And achieve stability in the cost and delivery of services over the long term.  The next step now is the ratification vote."

Other deals inked this evening include:  a four-year agreement for more than 770 technical and administrative staff at Simon Fraser University's three campuses, a deal between Thompson Rivers University and 450 support staff at the Kamloops campus, and a five-year package with 72 CUPE employees at Royal Roads University in Victoria.
