Cause of Smoggy Haze Crystal Clear: One Man's Opinion

When you took a look out the window early Sunday it became blatantly obvious that all of those calls to have wood stoves and outdoor Bar-B-Que’s banned from the city ,was just so much window dressing on whose part I do not know.

It had rained early Sunday, so the chance of anyone in this spring weather wanting to have a back yard burn would be small to none.

Grammas could not carry the can for baking pies on a wood stove unless of course she was doing it in the back yard of the pulp mil.

No sir, if you need any more convincing, look at the picture to see who the culprit was for the Sunday morning smog.

Why in the world our city fathers must heap the blame on the rank and file and have them, “do their part “makes one wonder again if  there is an out of sight out of mind syndrome occurring at city hall, or if someone just happens to believe that the pulp mills and the other industry at the north east end of town don’t pollute.

It was there for everyone to see this Sunday morning, however I may be preaching to the converted today, you know, the people who realize who has been to blame for the poor air quality that makes people sneeze and sniffle throughout the year.

They know where the problem lies, unfortunately no one in authority seems to care.

I’m Meisner and that is one man's opinion.

Living in the Hart we never had much of an air pollution problem until the rates for natural gas quadrupled - now many neighbours started burning wood all night to heat their homes!

Result: coughing and wheezing in the morning!

Needless to say that any air advisories are completely ignored, of course!

Now I add Breath Right nasal strips to my shopping list - without them I can no longer sleep without choking and gasping for air!
I have lived on the Hart for 16 years I have no trouble with the air up here, Summer or Winter. Hell I still Dry my Clothes on the line. The Air is Great on the Hart Folks. You are wrong This Time DIPLOMAT.
Well lets face it we need the jobs created by the pulp mills but to pick on wood burners is crazy. You don't even have to open your eyes to know where the polution comes from.I have live around a lot of wood stoves in my life and I have never smelt one that smells like down town P.G in the morning.I am building a house out of town and will be burning wood and I can't wait.
>You are wrong This Time DIPLOMAT.<

How much wrong can I possibly be when I can see thick wood smoke coming out of the metal pipes going up the side of some close-by houses?

I choke on that smoke when I open the front door in the morning!

Well, whatever...

(I know that the pulpmills, the refinery and FMC cause most of the pollution in the bowl).
IMO the refinery is the worst polluter in town by far especially around 3 in the morning when no one is around. Closely followed by the Northwood pulp mill. Its the refinery though that chokes the snot out of me. Sometimes just driving by is like sticking your head into an exhust pipe....
