As the Province marks B.C.'s first, Victims of Crime Week, it has announced funding to support two Prince George programs aimed at stopping sexual exploitation in the city.
Just over $25,000 will be dedicated to two local programs with Prince George CASEY (Community Against Sexual Exploitation of Youth) getting $20,000 in funding over three years to expand their Educating and Supporting Communities to Prevent Exploitation (ESCAPE) program.
The Association Advocating for Women and Children will receive $5,400 for the Peers Prince George Survival Sex Workers Support Society's program to provide education and support for people involved in the sex-trade.
The grants are provided through the Ministry of the Solicitor General as part of funding to support programs that involve public awareness initiatives to address prostitution and prevent the sexual exploitation of children and youth.
