For the first time, the B.C. School Trustees Association is holding its Annual General Meeting outside of the southern part of the  province.

Prince George is hosting the  4 day event  at the Civic Centre, which will feature presentations, special sessions, and the election of  the Board of Directors.

The discussion sessions cover a variety of topics, from  early childhood education, to  aboriginal band involvement in aboriginal education, and from  Trades and apprenticeship programs to ideas on how to better link  school boards  with parents.

The weekend event won't be without controversy as members of the Prince George and District Teachers Association plan to rally outside the Civic Centre on Saturday.  The teachers are in  contract talks, and have been  told  Trustees do not support the class size  recommendations teachers have presented at the "Learning Round Table." The teachers want to limit class sizes in grades 8-12.   BCTF President Jinny Sims will  come to Prince George to take part in the rally.

It's getting a little confusing as to who is in charge. The BCST or PGPTA or BCTF?
I think they should all take a pill and relax. They all came through a system that made them the smartest people in the world, or at least they claim to be. Obviously there is nothing wrong with the "old" school system, except of course it produced too many "experts" in what's wrong with themselves.
You have hit the nail on the head for the problem ! The old system just doesn't exist any more ! Never as a child growing up was I in a class any where the size my kids are in now. Not with as many special needs children as well ! Yes please give us back the old system, that is all we want !
Lunarcom .... I think your comments depend on the age of the individual. I am old enough to have gone through classes of between 30 and close to 40 students.

Special needs? That term changes over time. There were "special needs" students in my classes. The teachers knew about them and the students knew about them. However, looking back on it now, they were certainly not "tagged" with that name or category then as they are now.
