Premier Campbell says  he beleives the softwood lumber deal anounced  earlier today by  Prime Minister Stephen Harper is " a reasonable deal for Canada and a good deal for British Columbia"  The Premier also says it will give forestry communities  stability.

The 7 year agreement calls for the United States to  return 80% of the  5 billion dollars it collected in duties, and places a cap on the flow of softwood  from Canada to the U.S. if American lumber prices slide.

According to the P.M. the deal will help B.C. in protecting the province's market share .  B.C.  is responsible for half of the exports to the U.S.

Prime Minister Harper was given a standing ovation after telling the Commons "Canada's bargaining position was strong, our conditions were clear, and this agreement delivers."
