Violence on Highway 97 South

One man is in custody following a series of violent events on Highway 97 south.
Early this morning, a man and woman were involved in an argument while heading southbound on 97. The argument ended with the male forcing the female out of the moving vehicle at roadside.
Several concerned passersby were tending to the injured woman when the suspect returned to the scene. Worried he would continue assaulting the female, the citizens intervened. Police say an 18 year old from Prince George took a lead role in preventing the 46 year old man from further abusing the female, he too was assaulted, but fought back and the suspect drove off.
The suspect was arrested by Quesnel RCMP and transferred to Prince George.
The female victim received minor injuries and was taken to hospital, the 18 year old male had some cuts and bruises and was treated at the scene.
The 46 year old man is in custody facing two charges of assault, one charge of robbery. There was also a warrant out for his arrest.
