Minister Gets Message to Stay The Course

Agriculture Minister Pat Bell, Darcy Frankforth Finning Branch Operations Manager, and Mines Minister Bill Bennet stand in the wheel well of a piece of heavy machinery undergoing re-fit at the Prince George Finning plant.
On his way home from the Minerals North convention in Mackenzie, Mines Minister Bill Bennet says he's carrying familiar themes back to Victoria "Stay the course in terms of government policy, don't raise our taxes, don't increase regulations, don't change the flow through share program that you have to encourage investment, keep doing all those things because they have made a dkfference"
"The other thing I hear, says Bennet "is help us with our skills shortage, help us train more people, make it easier for us to train people, create more spaces in our post secondary education system, increase the number of apprentices in the province, all the things that will go towards providing a skilled work force in the future which is going to be a real challenge on the mining industry and other industries."
Leaving the convention, Bennet says the mood in the mining industry is very positive "Everyone is really excited about getting out in the field this year and finding as much as they can because the price of everything is real high and the opportunity has never been greater than it is today to develop a new mine."
