Council Has Big Night Ahead
By 250 News
Prince George City Council has a very big night ahead as it plans to revisit the idea of ammending bylaws so enforcement officers could issue tickets to retailers and property owners who allow overnight parking of R.V.’s. The overnight parking contravenes zoning bylaws.
The Mayor is expected to introduce a new motion which calls for the original motion to be rescinded, and the item then sent back to Administration “for further consideration of options, notably the establishment of a 12 hour period during which RV operators can rest in parking lots without penalty.”
The other matter is the setting of the municipal tax rate. Council is being advised to accept option “C” of five options explored by the Finance and Audit Committee. This particular option would raise the municipal portion of the residential tax bill by 3.39% although the actual translation into dollar amounts depends on how much the assessment had changed on any particular property.
Presentations to Council include one by B.C. Assessment two seperate health groups will address Council as they try to raise funds for their respective projects, and Opinion250’s Ben Meisner will make a presentation on the impact a proposed cold water release facility would have on the City of Prince George.
