RV Parking Plan Dumb and Dumber: One Man's Opinion

Now that we are about to do the old switch-a-roo on the RV parking issue in the city, why in the world are we trying to institute a half measure?

Instead of saying that we made a mistake the first go round and we want all you folks to stop in this city whether its in the Wal-Mart parking lot or at the RV park next door, we are proposing a limited time parking plan.

The revised motion from the Mayor, asks Administration to take another look at all options including a 12 hour  parking limit.

Parking for 12 hours you say?  Who are you sending out to check on who’s been naughty and who’s been nice? Will it be the "the blue chalk police" who will then chalk your tire and then head into the appropriate store with a ticket in hand?

Now in the case where these folks have parked on City property, would that not  illegal?

Now just how silly is that, trying to put the full weight of the law on those pesky merchants who allow the practice?  The retailers by the way for the most part aren’t using those parking lots overnight and even without the chalk cops, the bulk of the RV'ers will be on their merry old way in the morning.

Want to get some of that traffic that is stopping at the Casino parking lot or at any of the big box retailers?  Why not  try this novel approach; come up with some sort of an idea that will make RV'ers want to park in your stall for the night.  Now I know that will require some change but a good many of us remember when we heated our homes with wood, then coal , then oil and now gas, we all have to change, and if you want to be part of the game, times a wasting .

So let’s do the smart thing, put that proposed ticket idea in an ash can and burn it. Oh No, did I say burn it?  That could bring out the chalk cops who work as smoke cops during part of the day, who will write you a ticket under the burning by law.  Before you know it, you'll be forced to hang around the Big Box lots with your cap in hand trying to find some nice RV’er to drop a buck or two into it so you can make the fine.

Just silly or stupid, stupid, stupid, you be the judge.

I'm Meisner, and that is one man's opinion.
