Northern Health  is celebrating National Nurses week  with  news it has, once again, hired most of the UNBC nursing grads.

This is the 3rd straight year the majorioty of grads have been hired Northern Health  it has also hired many of the undergraduate nursing students for summer employment in health facilities across Northern BC.

45 newly-graduated nurses from UNBC will fill positions in Prince George, Vanderhoof, Quesnel, Kitimat and Dawson Creek.

As  with the Northern Medical Program,  the theory on nursing graduates is train them in the north, and they are more likely to stay in the rural and northern regions.

“We’re confident our new nursing graduates will enjoy their work within our health region’s facilities, and that our summer students will be encouraged to choose positions with Northern Health when they graduate in the years ahead,” said Northern Health CEO Malcolm Maxwell.

Northern Health works closely with educational institutions across the region to provide hands-on training for future health professionals as they complete their studies.
