Of the three cities in the Prince George area, it is Prince George that will pay the highest tax rate per 1000 for residential purposes.
Earlier this week, the City of Prince George struck the 2006 rate which, for residential purposes, will be $9.28 per $1,000 of assessment.
In the city of Williams Lake that figure has been set at 7.06 per 1,000 of assessed value, while at our neighbors to the south , Quesnel will pay a rate of 7.7 per 1,000 of assessed value.
In simple terms if you owned a home valued at $ 150,000 you would pay the following
City | Assessed Value of home | 2006 Taxes |
Williams Lake | $150,000 | $1,059.00 |
Quesnel | $150,000 | $1,155.00 |
Prince George | $150,000 | $1,392.00 |
Costs will rise by 3.6 per cent in Quesnel due in part to that City's contribution of $ 1 million dollars towards a $3 million dollar Sports Complex nearing completion, plus an additional police officer.
In Williams Lake the average tax increase will amount to 2.1 per cent.
