An Air Quality Advisory has been issued for Prince George.

An overnight inversion  is being blamed for trapping  particles of road dust and industrial pollutants.  The situation could improve later today says Steve Lamble of the Ministry of the Environment, "There is a 60% chance of showers and  increased wind should help things clear up"

Lamble says most northern communities are at risk of  air quality advisories at this time of year  beause there are still remnants of gravel that’s been spread on the roads for traction over winter.  "The City is great in getting out there and sweeping" says Lamble, but adds one inversion and we are in another air quality situation.

The advisory was issued at 9:00 this morning and will remain in effect for at least 24 hours.

What a bunch of BS. The levels increase at night with all that traffic going through the BCR. Yeah right.

This is a broken record and it is time to fix it!
So that's what the smell is as you drop down into the bowl area. I didn't know that road dust had a smell like that. Maybe as Owl suggests it's a bunch of BS and that maybe it's what I smell. Lets get a new spin other than road dust or fireplace burning. How about industrial?
