I believe if tax hikes would go directly to road repairs most would accept that. But as most governments do raise taxes saying it will be used for one thing or another and not a penny makes it to the project. You know like Kinsley's world travels.
I wouldn't mind either if the money went to the roads but to add just a little I want them repairing the potholes and crackes properly. Having them fixed today and withing a couple of months the "patch" is coming out is not acceptable.
Acrider and gofaster have it right. I saw a repair crew fix a couple spots after a rain, so the holes were wet and cold. How long will that last?
Governments are adicted to money, the lesss they get get, the better.
I am sure thier is enough money in the budget for road repair the problem is the money that is allready in the budget is being missused so why would anyone be willing to give more to be wasted?
>The weekly Opinion Poll shows 40.9 % in favour, 59.1 percent against.<

The 40.9% in favour is an indication of the frustration level of those drivers who would rather pay more taxes in order to protect their vehicles' suspensions and tires from being pounded into scrap in a couple of years of driving around town.

It is also a matter of safety on the roads and it makes more sense to fix potholes rather than thousands of vehicles.

40.9 % "yes" is also higher than what is needed in some jurisdictions in the USA to recall politicians who don't do a proper job and invoke the wrath of dissatisfied voters/taxpayers!
