Truckers in the Lakes District, from Houston to Vanderhoof, will have a chance today to meet B.C. Forest Safety Council Ombudsman Roger Harris.  Harris is taking  part in a day long event designed to share information on a variety of safety topics, and show appreciation to those drivers who continue to demonstrate safe driving habits.
The event is being co-hosted by Babine Forest Products, Canfor Houston, Decker Lake Forest Products, Fraser Lake Sawmills, Houston Forest Products, Pacific Inland Resources, Plateau Forest Products, West Fraser Timber Co. and the RCMP.
Truckers often say the first they hear of changes in regulations is when they are issued a ticket.  This event at the Houston Community Hall is aimed at  bringing everyone "up to speed".  Information available today will cover everything from vehicle inspections, new technology in the trucking industry,  hours of work and National Safety Code changes.
