It is Father’s Day, and Stats Canada has put out some numbers on Canadian Dads.  Here we go:

4.2 million — The estimated number of fathers in Canada, based on the 2001 Census. 

82% are in a married couple

12% are part of a common-law couple. 

6% are single dads.

$44,300 — The average after-tax income of families headed by single fathers in 2004.

Less than 1 in 10 — The number of fathers who took formal leave to care for a newborn in 2004.

12 out of every 100 — The proportion of single-earner Canadian families in 2005 with a stay-at-home Dad. In 1976, there were just 2 in 100 families.
