The Prince Rupert Port  was the object of a recent tour  for a  group from Prince George.  Mayor Colin Kinsley says the tour was an opportunity for the two cities to talk about  opportunities and possible partnerships that could be developed as the Prince Rupert Port comes on line.
Kinsley says “Our two communities are actively working on developing a trade route that can link our region with Asian markets and other developing international economies. The route can effectively encompass two major components; the pacific port in Prince Rupert being one and the inland port for Prince George being another.”
Joining the Mayor on the tour, were Councilor Don Zurowski, City Manager George Paul  and reps from Initiatives Prince George.
The contingent  held meetings with  their Prince Rupert Council counterparts,  the Prince Rupert Port Authority, Economic Development staff, as well as visiting several of the  coal and grain  handling facilities.

This is going to be a big boost for Prince Rupert and good for Prince George too. China is the world's fastest growing economy, and Rupert is the direct link.
Colin and his buddies are back on the raod again. Sounds like more pie in the sky

Well at least it didn't cost us another hundred grand.
"Our two communities are actively working on developing a trade route that can link our region with Asian markets and other developing international economies"

I think that is like the tail wagging the dog. The link is between the middle of North America and the Asian part of the Pacific rim, wth Japan, China and Korea being the key parts of the Asian half.

Anything from here is small cookies and to get access will be like jumping on the running boards of a chicken bus as it passes by without slowing down. But hey, its nice to pretend we are in there with the big players.
When the Pulp Mill in Prince Rupert went bankrupt with the loss of 400 to 500 jobs, along with the loss of jobs from fishing and the Canneries, etc., we did not see any concern on the part of the people of Prince George. Prince Rupert as a City is at this time as close as you will ever want to be to being bankrupt. They are owed somewhere in the area of 25 Million in back taxes that they will probably never collect.

We were all conspicuious by our absence during the hard times, however now that we smell the possibility of making a **Buck** we are falling all over ourselves to be **Good Buddies**.

Prince George has no *Class*
