Monday Tax Freedom Day

This Monday, is Tax Freedom Day, the day Canadians start working for themselves.
That means it took unitil June 18th to pay off the total tal tax bill levied by all levels of government.
That's the calculation from the Fraser Institute which says Tax Freedom Day this year is full five days earlier than it was just one year ago.
The latest Tax Freedom Day was in 2000, when it fell on June 25. Tax Freedom Day decreased to June 18 in 2001 before increasing to June 22 in 2002 and 2003, June 23 in 2004, and June 24 in 2005.
On a provincial basis, Tax Freedom Day for British Columbians falls on Father's Day.
The whole idea of tax freedom day was developed by the Fraser Institute to show Canadians just how heavy their tax burden really is.
