Prince George City Manager, George Paul is retiring.
Here is a copy of the official notice that has been issued to staff and the public:
Retirement Announcement
After 17 years with the City of Prince George and 33 years working for provincial and local governments, I have decided to retire. My last day of work will be December 31, 2006.
It has been an honour and a pleasure to have served as City Manager for the City of Prince George and to have worked alongside some of the most dedicated, creative and fun individuals to be found anywhere. As I have said many times in speaking to groups or individuals, the Prince George City Manager’s position is the best Chief Administrative Officer position in the Province!
The scope and opportunity for growth the position afforded me has been phenomenal. The facilities and services that our community has come to enjoy is largely due to the competent and caring employees in our organization, and I thank you for that.
The time has come for someone new to provide administrative leadership to the City. To ensure a smooth transition, I have committed to doing everything possible to assist in the transition to my successor.
I thank all the City’s employees for the support, cooperation and friendship I have enjoyed over the years that we have worked together.
Yours truly,
George Paul

Based on his 17 year record, I do feel he would be doing the city a disservice as well as the party entering the position.
Prince George has not fared well under his guidance.
Progress took a "back seat" and now with the upcoming predictions, there may never be a "catch up" in the offing.
Best if he would just quietly hand over the position, and leave it at that.
A bad influence is still an influence!!!!
