For the past 8 years, Jim Douglas has been the General Manager of the Coast  Inn of the North in Prince George.

In three weeks, he will start his new job, as the General Manager of the Pan Pacific’s new "Village" Hotel in Whistler.

News of his departure from the "Coast" has spread through the community like wildfire as he has been touted as reason why the hotel has done so well during his near decade of leadership. "I really didn’t do much" says Douglas "I just had a great team at a great hotel.  The Coast is a reflection of the character of  the community.  It is strong, fun, beautiful, and fiercely proud."

Douglas will  be taking charge of the newly  completed  "Village" hotel in Whistler.  It is an opportunity he just couldn’t  pass up, especially with the Olympics on the horizon  "I have some real challenges ahead of me" says Douglas, "The Village is a very different hotel.  I will have my hands full that’s for sure, but I will also have a great team to work with and to learn from".

Jim Douglas has been a fierce proponent of downtown development. I have appreciated the work he has done and the understanding he has of what is needed.

We can only hope that his replacement will share the same vision and passion for our community.

One must truly love Prince George and all it has to offer to have a vision for it's future. This caring should be evident in the direction this city is going. Let's keep an eye on the fruit. Chester
I have been to several fundraisers at the Coast Inn and when you hear of the great rates, great service and the extras thrown in by the Coast Inn for free to assist the fund raiser it is truly a good thing. It is for their great commitment to the city and to the organizations that use their facilities that when ever I have company from out of town or need to recommend a hotel to someone I always recommend the Coast. I have never met Mr. Douglas but have always wanted to say to him that I think he runs a great hotel. I hope he reads this and instills into his replacement the same values and goals for the hotel here. When I go to Whistler I know where I will be staying !
