I thought pot made a party mellow-and now it has been pointed out it can also make a person aggressive.
Which really is it?
I am asking, seriously.
the 24 hour suspension is a joke. where is the penalty for what has happened? this situation could have resulted in death.
marijuana does make many people mellow. of course, the effects of any drug (legal or illegal) vary from person to person. some people are mean when they're drunk, others are happy and giddy. for all we know the truck driver might be just as agressive or moreso when he's not high. i personally drive slower and with more caution when i am high. hope this helps, it certainly can be hard for a non-smoker to understand marijuana with all the crap one hears through the government.
Thanks!!
As I have previously stated-I do appreciate this site as many posters are very informative.
You are right-I do not smoke-and just not associated with those who smoke "pot", so my question was really legitimate.
Thanks again.
tstark37 - Is driving slower and with more caution when you are high justify why you drive at all when you are high?

It appears to me from a non-pot smoker point of view that pot also impairs a persons judgement. Chester
Don't forget Chester that people can be elated when great things happen to them or can be depressed after some family incident, yet they still drive. Being "high" does not require a drug.

In addition to that, people's driving skills vary considerably in the first place. The licensing test is a bare minimum.
The fact remains that driving impaired, by whatever means is illegal. The difference of driving a truck or car while impaired is huge. Most of the time the injuries are much more serious in truck accidents, usually for the other vehicle involved, not the truck. Is this the sort of thing what the forestry safety committee is trying to avoid with the trucking industry?
