City Burn Ban Reminder
By 250 News
Officials with the City of Prince George Fire Operations Communication Centre are out with a reminder about burning bans in place within City limits.
The BC Forest Service issued a sweeping ban on land clearing and industrial pile burning this week for much of the Prince George Fire Centre coverage area.
But FOCC Chief Communications Officer Keith Meldrum says the City has restrictions of its own in place as well.
"There's no open burning within the City of Prince George boundaries, which means no slash burning, backyard cleanup or debris. But you are allowed to have recreational fires in your backyard," says Meldrum. "A ban on recreational fires could change, if there's an air quality advisory or if conditions get worse, so we'll be following conditions very closely."
