The development of the Metropolis project will be seeking a development variance permit at tonight’s Prince George City Council meeting.

The request calls for permission to skip the requirement for on site loading spaces. The project allows for a designated loading space on street for the retail outlets, and garbage will be enclosed within the enclosed parkade.

Council will also hear from the people involved with the P.G. Northern Sustainable Landscape Initiative. They will update Council on the project and present 4 new proposals for possible addition to the project.

Councilor Munoz will present a notice of motion calling for the establishment of a Committee for Sustainable Community Development.

The audited financial statements for Initiatives Prince George and Downtown Prince George will be presented..

Staff will present the Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and Reduction Targets report.

There will also be the presentation of the Downtown Street Tree Planting Bylaw. It calls for downtown property owners to carry half the cost of planting tress along boulevards downtown. The estimated cost of the work is $138 thousand.

Seeing as this Metropolis project is a part of city council's "DREAM" or nightmare, you choose, of making the downtown area more attractive to shoppers, I have no doubt that anything they ask for will be granted....
What is next???
maybe we should finance this too????? free!
