A Prince George family of four escaped serious injury  Sunday when their SUV flipped on Highway 16 east.

Police say the vehicle was eastbound, near the jail, when it hit a cement cylinder attached to the roadway near the construction area.  The vehicle flew into the air and flipped a couple of times before coming to rest on its roof about 100 metres from the original point of impact.

The four occupants in the vehicle were taken to hospital, but did not have any serious injuries.  Police credit the parents use of the two child seats in preventing any serious injuries to the two children, both under the age of three, who were in the vehicle at the time.

The vehicle was totalled,  no charges laid.
