There will be no fishing allowed for early Stuart Sockeye along the entire section of the river system this year.

The Pacific Salmon Commission says the early Stuarts, which have reached low levels over recent years, are five days late in returning to the river system.

About 85,000 fish are expected to make the trek to the spawning grounds on the Stuart River in our region, a major drop from years gone by.

I expect our traditional loving bothers to show up with the usual coolers full of fish any day now.
They get a fish, even if it is the last one, they know how to get the fish. I hear drift nets work great.
