Political cartoonists are reflecting the despleasure being voiced over the softwood lumber deal in general, and Trade Minister David Emerson in particular.

Emerson is facing increasing pressure over the softwood lumber agreement.  He maintains the pact is a good one, and doesn’t think it is "political"   "it’s an economic issue" says Emerson.   The Trade Minister says if the  lumber industry wants to trash the deal it will be their decision, not his, and lumber companies will have to take responsibility for the fallout of such action.

Although he has indicated he won’t be out aggressively trying to"sell" the agreement, Emerson isn’t done talking about the deal that was signed earlier this month. The opposition parties have requested a Commons Committee meeting where Emerson will be called upon to answer questions about the deal.  That meeting could take place as early as next week.

Do you remember when?
Emerson was some kind of God to be admired, respected and a do gooder for one and all in the lumber industry.
Emerson has taken great care of Emerson, and his true colors may become apparent very shortly.
There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.
Watch how he works to instill fear in lumber companies.
Now, if he were on their side-would he be quite so threatening?
I hardly think so.
