Residents along Ingala Drive in the Hart Highlands have asked the Ministry of Environment  to look into the sightings of a Cougar in their area.

Residents say the matter was brought to their attention by a female mail delivery worker who said she had seen the animal while on her rounds in that area.

Other residents also say they have seen a Cougar, believed to be a young cat along the slopes that are near their properties.

The Ministry has  informed residents that they will keep a watchful eye out for the cat.

Anyone who has seen or comes in contact with it, is asked to call the Ministry and report the sighting.

In recent years there have been a growing number of sightings in the city in particular along North Nechako Road and the escarpment along the Hart Highlands. As one official said "We have witnessed the increase of the deer population in recent years in and around the city and with that increase, comes the Cougars."
