Fire Rating Now Low to Moderate

The danger rating for the Prince George Fire Centre has been downgraded to  low to moderate.  The cooler temperatures and rain have played a major role in reducing the threat.

Here is the latest information on activity within the Prince George Fire Centre region.

Crews continue to work on  hotspots, especially in the Tumbler Ridge area:

  • in the vicinity of Mt. Hamelin, approximately 10,7700ha, crews are patrolling,
  • in the vicinity of Hourglass Creek, approximately 9,214ha,  Current status, mop-up
  • in the vicinity of Rat Lake Road, approximately 3,432ha, Current status, patrol
  • in the vicinity of Wapiti Lake, approximately 1800ha,  Current status, mop-up
Residents of Tumbler Ridge are advised smoke from hot spots may be visible, especially during periods of hot and dry weather.  Crews will continue working on the fires until the hot spots have been extinguished.
           
Travel restrictions have been lifted for the Rat Lake Road and Wapiti FSR, but portions of the Hourglass Road are still designated Restricted Areas.
