The first quarter of the 2006 fiscal year has wrapped up with Northern Health reporting a  small surplus.  The actual amount is  $799 thousand dollars,  which is about .15 of a percent of Northern Health's $521 million dollar annual budget.

Board Chair Jeff Burghardt says any surplus is encouraging, however, "Our financial projection is to end the year in a break-even position."

Any surplus developed now could disappear  when cooler weather  settles in and heating costs fluctuate.

Everyone has a surplus except me. Can I have some of my money back? These potholes in the streets are wrecking my car and I need money to fix it.
Check them books again, and save the surplus, bonus's to supervisors are not a good idea, as I am sure that come the new year you are going to be short and need more money....
Thank God!! The budget is balanced. Praise the Lord that surgeries have been cancelled, that patients wait for hours to be seen in emergency and are sometimes treated in the waiting room, that recovery room nurses are quitting because they are forced to work 16 hour shifts looking after patients waiting for beds, that surgical drapes and some equipment is purchased because it is the cheapest, that people wait for days for treatment of fractures, etc., etc., etc.. Hallelujah!! Tha budget is balanced. What a crock!
