Three New Fires in Past Week

Crews in the Prince George Fire Centre have responded to 3 new fires in the past week.

The first fire, which was actioned by NWT crews, was a lightning-caused spot fire near the border between British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. The second was a vehicle fire near the Mackenzie Junction that was actioned by an initial attack team. Both of these fires are out. The third was a spot fire approximately 55km southwest of Prince George down the Blackwater Road. This fire has been turned over to industry.

So far there have been 471 fires and 75,679 hectares burnt in the Prince George Fire Centre, with 96 fires and 3,186 hectares burnt in the immediate Prince George Zone.

The fire danger rating throughout most of the Prince George Fire Centre Zone is currently Moderate.
