The lake had been rough last Saturday and a fishing derby was underway when its beleived Salt fell off the back of a boat.

As a person who grew up in Fort St. James, I would like to point out to your reporters, that it is Stuart Lake, not Stewart Lake.
It was named by Simon Fraser, after his travelling companion, John Stuart, and replaced the local Aboriginal name for it which was Nak'al Bun.
Also, the man missing is known as Barry Salt. His wife is known as Evans-Salt.
Just a couple things to point out.
