Just one more day before the deadline for P.G. property taxes

Prince George municipal taxes are due this Friday, July 8.

The average homeowner is paying more this year, (2.99% says City Hall) but time is running out.

To try and make the process as painless as possible, City Hall will be open until 5:00 pm, but to speed things up, home owners are being asked to have their Home Owner Grant applications filled out before going to City Hall, or their bank.

To be eligible for the Senior Grant, the homeowner  must be 65 or older this year, and that means adding their birth date to the grant application.

Instead of actually going to city hall,  the homeowners grant can be claimed on-line ( https://cobweb.city.pg.bc.ca/tempestprod/ecom/hog/login.cfm ).  Make sure you have your folio number and access code ready before logging on to the City of Prince George website. Both numbers are on the tax notice.

So if things are so great and the economy is on fire-those faces I saw at City Hall were surely lacking even the semblance of a "smile." There may be some of the citizens in this city who are experiencing a turn around, but you can bet it is not happening to an overabundance. Many are still living in hope that better days are on the horizon. Then they get higher prices thrown at them from all angles, and that sense of optimisn is difficult to maintain.
Maybe once they get through this tax payment we will see some smiles again. I, for one, sure hope so. Where have all the good times gone???
